Oh shit it's a blog post. My first one, today is a historic day etc. Anyway to kick things off I thought I'd start a weekly segment (if you know what Valve Time is, that can apply here). I take a relatively old game, get a screenshot of it, modify the hell out of it so it looks almost like a characature of some NEXT GEN MODERN GRAPHICS BLOOM game. Which means:
- lots of brown
- lots of bloom
- lots of desaturation
- stupid "post-processing" effects
So without further adue I present
Super Metroid, which I actually made in late 2007 but remembered it while discussing some games with a friend.
Original Screenshot:
Unfortunately I don't have the original screenshot so here's a simple brown-filter one
EDIT: I found the screenshot on the second page of a Google Images search for "super metroid", hurr.
Here it is.More Nextgen
Left: Some simple bloom and lighting effects, including lens flare...
Right: BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

So then after having shown my friend these screenshots he said "Super Mario RPG". So I loaded up ZSNES and took a screenshot.
Original Screenshot:
I couldn't be bothered getting an actual battle shot so I just ran into an enemy and pressed F10 (hooray for FRAPS)

MOAR NEXT GEN
Brown layer, highlight bloom (and even a touch of midtone bloom).

Followed by even MORE bloom and some desaturation. This is actually looking a bit more PS2/XBOX/GC era but you get the idea.

And if anyone manages to stumble upon this blog, give me a comment as to what game I should do next.
